On April 16, 2010, our volunteers visited Mr. Leung, who got injured in a work-related accident. During the visit, we learned more about how the accident happened. We also explained to him in what way he could claim his rights. After the visit, Help Actually volunteers followed up Mr Leung’s case and provided assistance necessary.

Mr Leung, a fuel tanker operator, fell down to the ground from a high place when he was doing fuel filling to an excavator. After all the checks at hospital, Mr Leung has been diagnosed with some physicality problems in future, even a permanent sequelae.

Leung’s case warned us that there is a high possibility to have accidents on a construction site. To prevent such tragedy from happening again, Help Actually hopes Government and some related departments can pay more attention to this issue by increasing security as well as the workers’ safety awareness.
